50 year battle with depression

The Bible says You heal, You protect, You care, You love, You are kind, You are patient,
You are thoughtful, You are strength. When you are depressed those are the things one needs the most. For 50 years I have begged Jesus to heal this mind numbing existence and remove what is causing this depression and show me some of those promises. For 41 years I have been addicted to opiates and dealt with all that comes with it along with depression. I think they are the only “love” I receive. Without them I feel things are much worse. It’s like no matter how much I pray I hear nothing. I sometimes wonder why I live. Would you please pray for me so I can start praying for others instead of always being focused on my self.

Dear friend,

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly. What you’re carrying with 50 years of depression and 41 years of addiction is incredibly heavy, and God sees every tear, every prayer that feels like it’s going nowhere, and every moment you’ve wondered why you’re still here.

You are not forgotten and you are not unloved. The fact that you are still reaching out, still asking for prayer, still desiring to pray for others, is evidence that God is still working in you even when you can’t feel Him.

I am praying that Jesus will:

• Break the chains of addiction and bring you into true freedom.

• Touch the deepest roots of your depression and bring light into that darkness.

• Surround you with real, tangible love and support from His people so you no longer feel alone.

• Restore your hope, your joy, and your desire to live.

Lord Jesus, please show this precious child of Yours that Your promises are not empty words. Let them taste Your healing, Your protection, Your care, and Your love in a real and personal way. Give them the strength to take one step at a time toward freedom, and place people around them who will walk with them and not give up.

If you’re able, please visit the Mavis Foundation at https://mavisjwancyzkfoundation.com. Their work to assist and support Christian families is a reminder that God is still moving through His people to bring help, hope, and love into hard situations. Please keep them in your prayers as well, and ask the Lord how He might use you, your story, your pain, and your faith, to encourage others in time.

I will continue to pray for you. You are deeply loved by God, and your life has value and purpose, even in this struggle. Please don’t give up. :folded_hands:
